<p>The issue I had with them Book 1 is that his supposed feelings for Korra just come right out of nowhere. I heard the defense that he was "hiding" them, but then if he's so bashful, why did he hit it off with Asami right away? </p><p>I was actually starting to warm up to the idea in Book 2. They had some legitimately cute scenes, & I liked the idea of it not being all sunshine, butterflies, & rainbows. But by the end of Book 2, they'd sunk, raised, & re-sunk those ships so many times that I was just so sick of them. This is around the time I started to seriously consider Korrasami as an alternative, incidentally. </p><p>Then Book 4 gave the incredibly bizarre interpretation that he "didn't want to disappoint anyone." I suppose I can see glimpses of that. Him suddenly blurting out to Korra that he loves her always came across to me like a desperate attempt to try to cheer her up. I'm also not as hard on him not telling Korra that they broke up in Book 2 as a lot of other people, because I think from his reaction it was pretty obvious that he was conflicted, & he did make good on his promise to tell her once the danger was out of the way. Though I don't think I'm willing to accept that as an explanation for everything he did. </p><p>I think they had 1 of those moments where they decided the characters logically would get on each other's nerves, so they decided to throw out the current plan & do something else. </p>

<p>Probably, but since LoK was based around what we know as the 1920s (roughly), I doubt it was much of a big deal. </p>

<p>Yeah, well... okay. I get what you're saying. But, this sort of thing shouldn't be used in any series on Nickelodeon, especially in the <i>next</i> Avatar series, if there'll be one. </p>

I agree with most of this post except that while I accepted Makorra I was never all that fond of it, & if there's anything I feel bad for Mako over, it's the writers making him look like a total douche. As with pretty much all of the characters, a lot of the hate he gets is unfair or exaggerated, but a lot of it sure isn't. Honestly, Korrasami was better for Mako too, the Mako of Books 3 & 4 is a much better, more mature character than the Mako who was trying to string along 2 different girls. If his positive development continues, rather than regressing to the status quo, he could be a genuinely likeable character.</div>Thanks for your support! <p>TBH, Makorra was forced and crammed at the very last minute. Most of us know this because Bryke wasn't expecting to have more seasons of TLoK so they decided to just end it there, but when the second season came out, well, things changed a lot. </p><p>(The writting in season 2 was really weak) </p><p>Bryke made a turn here. They decided to play with the characters relationships so Makorra of course wasn't all that perfect. They had problems (and yes, Mako was portrayed as some senseless douche), but I also agree in Mako's character development. </p><p>The Mako at the last 2 seasons has really grown up and he showed us what it means to sacrifice everything for your loved ones. </p><p>So yeah </p><p>Bryke writing = character development, profound character arcs. </p> </div> <p>It wasn't that it wasn't a perfect relationship, it was that one fight broke them up. It wasn't because Mako was horrible, but that Korra was essentially a child for the first half of book 2. That's going by the idea of A New Spiritual Age.
</p><p>Yeah, book 4 had that sacrifice thing going on. </p><p>With Turf Wars, we need some sort of actual development with Korra and Asami. Not just a nice image of them together. Think of that "fight" they had in book 4 but more meaning than being brushed off. </p>

<p>That is also true </p><p>Like they wanted to compensate the big shitstorm Mako made in any affective display whenever he was with Korra, and that also made me consider Korrasami (of course, I tought Bryke was just taunting the fans). </p>

Kinda like Zuko so I want to think they were preparing her for a redemption arc wich is seen between the 2rd and 4th season. But yeah, </p><p>And YES </p><p>I really hope Bryke's relationship writting is better than the 2nd season was. The ATLA comics are really good imo so I think we will be getting this deep emotional feels that romantic relationships have specially when you have an overview of LGBT being accepted in their world. (of course if if they flip out like many people still do irl). </p>
