<p>I know hama was a piss off bitch because of what the fire nation had done to her and her people. I really don't blame her for all the things she experienced when she was capture and sent in prison to die! Hama watching her fellow tribesman in prison die one by one. Hama was a victim of the "hundred year war". Her imprisonment in her early life could of been horrific than one could imagine. She could of been rape by the guards. beaten and making her a play thing. we don't know. my guess is it's a possiblity cause it's a fucking PRISON!!!!! and she was a young women when she was a captive. Fire nation guards men would have no problem having their way with her.
</p><p>Can't Avatar Aang not understand what she endured but he couldn't. He Never EXPERIENCED the genocide because he was just kid and was frozen for a 100 years...Hama did experienced it. Katara was a bitch to not tell her gran-gran Kanna anything about her bestfriend fate. They just left her in the arms of the enemy.
</p><p>I feel for hama but one thing that puts all this pity of her is why didn't hama just leave the fire nation when she escaped the prison. I thinking she still had grudges and hatred to the fire nation so she stayed?! Hama could've just got on a boat to the Fire Nation Colonies in the earth kingdom. From there, she could've took another friendly boat to her home in the south pole! Done! but she didn't.
</p><p>Maybe her hatred changed her. Too obsessed with Vengeance. Hama could've had ptsd or some mental disorder illness.
</p><p>And Why didn't sokka not tell his grand mother either?!
</p><p>I hope Hama character would come back in the North & South comics!
</p><p>(I think hama would scold and ignore Avatar Aang and Particularly Katara for siding with the enemy for her point of view.)

<p>We don't know whether or not Katara and Sokka told Kanna about Hama during their return visit, but the possibility that Gran-Gran was told at all <i>at some point</i> before she died <span style="font-weight:normal;">still very much exists</span>.

<p>Calms before storms, allies become enemies, enemies become allies, etc. who knows how Kanna could have responded to the discovery.

<p>Her only concern was making sure that the knowledge of Bloodbending was passed on, but she should've been concerned about whether or not Katara was going to pass the knowledge on, as she wasn't sure if Katara would.

<p>Since I often get criticized for using psychopath as a "buzzword," I suppose I would be remiss if I didn't comment when I think the term <i>doesn't</i> apply.
</p><p>I don't think the term applies here. It's difficult to say for sure, since we have so little exposure to Hama, but she seems to have been a normal young woman who just became very hateful & vengeful in her time in prison, then later while on the run.

<p>A psychopath is someone whose mind and mental capacity to function has been altered. That might have happened to Hama, in some sort of twisted PTSD, but the extent to which we could classify someone as being psychopathic is not shown here. They might use it in an uneducated sense - "You're a psychopath!" - but they're not, in actuality.
</p><p>Hama isn't a psychopath. She's just a vengeful and cruel witch who takes out her anger of being imprisoned on the innocent victims of the nation that captured her. She's evil.
</p><p>And that's probably why Katara didn't say, "Hey Gran - Gran! Remember your old friend from 50 years ago who helped stop a Fire Nation invasion? She's an evil witch who lives in the Fire Nation and created the ability to use the blood in people's veins to manipulate their physical actions and took out her anger on innocent Fire Nation civilians! You must be so proud!"

<p>The way I define psychopathy to people is a genetic & neurological inability to genuinely feel someone else's emotions.
</p><p>There are some researchers who say that it's not so biologically determined, that actually it's a result of social factors deadening the brain's lymbic system. I don't think that's actually very well supported by the research, I just say it for the sake of being clear that psychopathy is not 100% understood.

</p><p>External factors: The war, being captured, being imprisoned, being tortured.
</p><p>Internal factors, unable to Waterbend without a source, feeling helpless, unable to save her friends and allies, yearning for revenge.
