ALL POSTSIs Korra a Princess and Rich?!
<p>I know her Father Tonraq is Chief of the entire Southern Water Tribe, does that mean korra is rich too? Korra new home is a PALACE for spirits-sakes! OR is it only used for the Elected Chiefs? How Long does tonraq serve as "Chief"? maybe a life term or a few years..
</p><p>Since i know that the north and south operate different from each other. And also korra has royal blood from her father side of the family since Tonraq father was Chief of the Northern Water Tribe.
</p><p>With all these in the factor then korra must be RICH!
</p><p>although she did say she doesn't have a secret avatar bank account that was fill with gold! LOL
</p><p>All i'm saying is....does the watertribes operate as a Monarchy? If yes then korra is a princess? and does she have to marry someone of noble birth? but then again Eska did not care and fell in Love with Bolin who was a poor low life from the ghettos of republic city. I may be wrong on all this but feel free to enlighten me!

<p>From what i can tell, the SWT is an elective system; there's no dynastic persistence to the chieftainship, so Korra wouldn't be a princess or royalty there, and being the Avatar would probably overshadow any royal status she had. As for wealth, i don't think she's wealthy nor are her parents

<p>Now that the Tribes are independent, the North is a monarchy while the South is a rule by a chief elected by the elders.
</p><p>Presumably Tonraq serves until either he steps down or the elders choose someone else.
</p><p>From what I can tell, a princess is officially defined as a female member of a monarchic family who does not have another title, not necessarily the daughter of the monarch, so since Desna & Eska still consider Korra to be part of the family, I suppose she would still be a princess.
</p><p>However, there's no reason that should make her wealthy, because Unalaq's estate is still in the hands of his children & their mother if she's still alive.
</p><p>I'm sure Tonraq must be paid decently to be Chief, but probably just enough to comfortably live on. The South in general is portrayed as having a smaller wealth gap between social classes than the other surviving nations.
