<p>So I was thinking that, since we see that in the Avatar world science and technology always seem to advance quickly, where does that leave bending and bending traditions? Could scientists find a way to <span style="font-weight:normal;">artificially</span> reproduce bending and leave aside the genetic/spiritual connection, people quickly seem appealed to this and just jump on the project, soon thousand of years of tradition is lost because people can now bend wihout being born with this ability, without having a spiritual connection and instead replace this with induced chemicals, etc.
</p><p>This leaves the Avatar to fight the artifical bending project and to try to make the world embrace spirituality again
</p><p>What are your thoughts on this, can it happen? Any opinion is valid

<p>Well, it should be hypothetically possible. Wan shows us that you don't need to have any particular organs or anything to be given the power to bend via energybending. Since spirit energy can be manipulated scientifically, there shouldn't be anything stopping it.
</p><p>I do not think it is the Avatar's job to stop this or to enforce some arbitrary tradition, but rather to see that it is not abused.
