<p>The creators have done more wild stuff in the past. It wouldn't be impossible for the next Avatar to unlock the past lives. One of countless possible explanations/theories could go as such:  </p><p>The next Avatar, for whatever reason, NEEDS to contact a past Avatar that's not Korra. Maybe she's hiding something from him, WHATEVER. Anyways, this Earth Avatar may find Iroh in the spirit world, where he will tell him/her that although his spirit left his mortal body many years ago, it is just his spirit, nothing else, yet he was still reincarnated into another mortal body afterwards (perhaps as General Iroh) and thus, he states, that every mortal human has a connection to their past lives, not just the Avatar. The Avatar just happens to be the only one who can actually manage to do so. And just as Wan's/Yang Chen's/Kuruk's/Kyoshi's/Roku's/Aang's/Korra's bodies are different, they share the same spirit, which can never die, NEVER. The only reason Korra couldn't contact them is because of the the stuff with Rava, practically making her the first Avatar and the equivalent of a mortal who cannot contact her past lives. But somehow, as the Avatar, the next one will be able to somehow solve this problem </p>

<p>While I'm certainly not disparaging the idea of the next incarnation being chubby...Bolin <i>ain't</i>.  (Especially not in Book 4, where he looks less...<i>sleek</i>...than he did throughout the rest of the series.  But he's always been fairly trim, if thickly built.)

what if the next Avatar is born in Ba Sing Se or Kyoshi island and he is a Dai Li agent or a Kyoshi Warrior? he will make a great Earthbender. he should know the full story about Avatar Kyoshi and everything about her.

Korra and Asami learn of this during their time in the Spirit World. The eruption of a third time portal messed up the world and the universe so bad that they needed the help of <i>all </i>of the past Avatars in order to restore balance to world. Also, it would be really cool for characters in ATLA to clash with those in LOK. Thoughts? </p>

<p>Ehh, seems a bit over-the-top, TBQH.  But I've seen the occasional time-travel plot that <i>works</i>, so I certainly wouldn't just blow such a thing off sight unseen.

<p>I agree on Bolin. </p><p>I think the Avatar has generally had to be athletic to some degree in order to master the bending arts to the level that s/he does, but seeing different body types would be nice. </p><p>It might also be that in a more modern era, being able to control bending on a more minute level might be more valued than it has been in the past. </p>
