<p>This is likely to be a precursor to the Civil Wars storyline, like how The Promise was a prologue to Republic City. I think this may have partially come from Katara's childhood friend she met in the Earthen Fire Refinery, I hope she makes an appearance. </p>

<p>Some of the transitions were abrupt & didn't make much sense, & the art is fairly crude, causing me to wonder if it's not done yet. The callbacks were kind of nice. But they don't show enough for me to really have that strong of an opinion on things. </p><p>I really liked the city. Some will probably say it's abrupt, & that was my 1st reaction too, but by my count it's been at least 2 years since the end of the original series & much of the construction seems to have been done with waterbending. </p>

<p>Yes, I also thought that it was abrupt but that might be because they didn't show the pages in order. I think they never did that and it'd make sense.
</p><p>Personally, I don't mind the art. I don't know what exactly you mean but remember that it's the first time that Gurihiru is working on Water Tribe related stuff. </p>

You can see Katara's pack through her right sleeve (& it's absent in the next panel for some reason), & many of the background characters lack faces or in some cases are just blobs of color, far less distinct than the background characters in <i>Smoke & Shadow</i>. </p>

<p>I'm really liking it so far! It makes total sense that the "village" would undergo a massive change while they were gone, but I gotta feel for Sokka and Katara after that last panel. </p><p>Seems to be a recurring theme of the comics, actually. <p>I'm not noticing any lack of detail. I mean, the image quality doesn't seem that great (like it's too low a resolution or something), but that's got nothing to do with the quality of the drawings themselves. Either way, I'm staying optimistic on this one. </p><p>I'm almost positive that previews have skipped pages before. They're like movie previews -- they're going to jump to whichever part they think will get you reading more. </p>

<p>I usually try to avoid the previews, but from the ones I recall reading, I do not recall them skipping pages. </p><p>I don't think it's just image quality. If it's the image quality, the lines should still be there, but they should be blurred. </p><p>If it's a new artist, frankly I think it's going to be a while before I think he's really up to par. </p>

<p>Difference of opinion, then. I might just not notice the small details as much. (Case in point, Sailor Moon Crystal's animation didn't strike me as nearly as bad as everyone kept saying it was.) </p><p>I can't look for it now, but I'm 99% positive one of the Smoke and Shadow previews skipped some pages. I think it was in the preview for Book 1. </p>
