<p>If the joke said that Asami's age was going to be 29, but it turned out to actually be 18 then we can do the same with Iroh & substract eleven years to the age mentioned in the joke, and YAY we have a 25 year old handsome general. It's perfect. </p><p>I don't think that he is 36, he looks so much younger and Dante Basco's voice doesn't help.  </p>

<p>And again: if we put his age at 25 as of Book 1, that still places him as older than the youngest person to attain the rank of general in real life (or even in the history of the U.S. Army).  So...really not that far-fetched.

<p>He's got to be in his late twenties in Book 1. His sister was allegedly going to be paired with Mako, so she's gotta be in her early-mid 20s; and I assume Izumi didn't have a second kid (assuming her daughter is younger than Iroh) 11+ years after her first. I like the idea of Iroh being 25 in Book 1. </p>

<p>Actually... It says he was born in 134 AG.. Izumi took the throne in 167 AG, so he would've been 33 at that time. Shoot... Unless, that's just there because it's thought that he's 36 in B1... So ignore this comment please, lol. </p>

<p>He's likely 30 in Book 1 of Korra and 34 by the time of Book 4 (<i>I doubt he's as old as thirty-six in Book 1</i>). On one hand, he looks very in shape and naturally handsome, so him being in thirties shouldn't be that very far off. <i>And</i> he comes from a family of attractive people. On the other hand, he's the <i>general of the United Forces</i>. Isn't that a rather stressful job? Shouldn't he look a lot older in Book 4? He's been general for quite a while now. </p>

<p>He could easily be 36. i don't really see the reason why it seems so unrealistic to some people. The way people look at certain age is different and depends on your genetics and lifestyle. I think Iroh could easily be 36 in book I. Just look at Toph and Aang at 40 and Pema at 35. Well, at least, he clearly is older than characters in their 20s. </p>

But the source of him being 36 is a joke. </div> <p>Well, I'm not familiar with material you're talking about. Therefore, based on what I've read on this threat, i would question whether his age is joke or Asami's age, or maybe situation itself? Anyway, since we don't have any other information, it is safe to assume that he indeed is 36. </p>
