Isn't it more accurate to say Mako
risked himself by staying behind to destroy the Colossus?

Honestly, you guys are too worked up over
this theory. Mako's death would have served two story purposes: 1) eliminate future possibilities of Makorra and Masami; and 2) shutting up Mako haters (an objective confirmed
in the artbook). But it would also mean Nick is done with The Legend of Korra. Saving Mako means Nick can continue the series with Team Avatar intact, like the recent announcement from Dark Horse Comics.

Whatever. It's not as if convincing anyone of this would help realize M.Night's vision of The Last Airbender 2.

But of course. Even with the overwhelming success of The Visit for Universal Pictures, I doubt M.Night can get Universal to co-finance TLA2 with Paramount. However, the
other producer of TLA is one of the "handful of filmmakers on the planet" who can will this baby into existence. After all, he already made
$1.655 billion for Universal and counting. You do remember that The Last Airbender is also a
Kennedy/Marshall production not just a
Blinding Edge production, right?

Also, my crystal ball indicates that most of the cast will return. particularly Dev Patel and Nicola Peltz. Toph is likely to be recast, which it's too bad because
Isaac Solstein would give Eddie Redmayne a run for
his money (and Oscar). :(
Jessica Andres said years back that
she would return to play Suki if asked. It may interest you that Jessica will be in a indie play IN LOVE AND WARCRAFT, the West Coast edition with a diverse cast, opening this Saturday Sept 19 at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.
