Time for fan questions!

- Any characters you thought about bringing back from the original series but didnt?

They got to do all the main things they wanted- revisit Katara, Zuko, Toph. BUT SOKKA- His story just never aligned with what went on with the present story.

- There were a BUNCH of questions submitted about Sokka-

Bryan says “Eh, he had a job. He actually WORKED at a grocery store.”

- Which character was portrayed most accurately from how you imagined them?

“I thought we did a pretty good job on all of them….” Speaking of Sokka, their idea for him was a little different, but once they started creating him he just evolved into something else.

- When did you guys realize the cabbage guy was gonna be a running gag?

“We resisted it! It was not our favorite joke. We included it in Korra cause it was out of hand” Also, gave apologies to the guy who dresses up at Cabbage Guy every year at SDCC.

- How was the transition to going to a smaller staff on Korra?

Liked it a lot, it just flowed naturally. They enjoyed having a smaller writing staff.

The Korra statue will be available 2016.

- Avatar comics- how far are you guys planning to go?

“Every year there’s going to be a synopsis.” -(That’s a joke guys). They’re not sure, kinda like TV, it depends on how many times it gets picked up, what stories they have to tell…

- How did Harmonic Convergence give airbenders airbending?

The entire audience laughs. They think of it as a spiritual shift, the energy is resetting itself, finding the balance again. Bryan is bringing in science now and messing it up and is embarrassed. The earth has been shown to recalibrate itself slowly, drawing a concept from that. He didn’t get much sleep last night.

- Talking about the independent projects

We’re not broken up, but we are working on other things. (Bryan leaned over and gave him a bit of a hug). Bryan said when he graduated he was afraid to be the artist alone, and it’s 17 years later and he finally feels ready to be alone just working and chipping away solo and see what he can do. Mike has always wanted to write a book, he’d always kinda filter out whenever he started though. Avatar and Korra was training on how to actually craft a story, got him ready to tackle an idea he’s had for a long time.

Bryan realized when he was working he was writing notes as if he was having a conversation with Mike, so he really helped Bryan as well.

- Going to do anything else with Korra?

“We have an answer prepared!”

The spirit portal fades in, korra and asami emerge, the title announces

KORRA COMICS ARE COMING AND MIKE DIMARTINO IS AT THE HELM!
