<p>So as we all know after she was beaten Kuvira was lead away by Lin and Suyin to be punished but what I wonder is What will her punishment be. Come to think of it how will her whole entire army and supporters be punished for all their War Crimes? Will she and they be Exiled somewhare or santanced to Life in Prison or will she be Exacuted?

So... what punishment you guys think they deserve? Banished them all along with Kuvira? That sounds good to me.

I honestly believe that a similar situation to the numberg trials will take place and based on rank and severity of crime they will be punished accordingly.

The Earth Kingdom/Empire isn't occupied and most of Kuvira's supporters shouldn't be within anyone's reach...unless the United Forces invade the EK after Kuvira's surrender or there is an anti-Empire uprising (which is unlikely, imo). In addition, nothing what Kuvira and her forces did went far beyond the "normal" actions during a war. She didn't kill any civilians and there is absolutely nothing to suggest that she was engaging in the kind of methodical mass murder or human experimentation that defined the holocaust.

Now I do believe Kuvira needs to answer for what she has done (she obviously did start a war)...but the best thing politically would definitely not be to just throw her in prison. The Earth Kingdom is pretty likely to slide back into disorder without some quick action due to yet another power vacuum, and Kuvira is still essentially the only person who can keep the country from collapsing into chaos again. She has a large following and a massive army that actually believes in her - the average EK citizen certainly trusts her more than they trust Raiko or Wu. That's why I think Korra, Wu and the other world leaders should use Kuvira to do some sort of community service stint to help stabilize the earth nation/ensure a smooth transition to democracy...and then she is given a couple of years house arrest in Zaofu (assuming Su forgives her) or somewhere else. Everyone wins :) </p>

<p>Dr22, I actually had similar thoughts myself. That Kuvira would answer for her crimes goes without saying, and I do see her eventually being imprisoned. However, I was thinking that if Wu is smart - and while he's self-centered and almost comically foppish, he is not stupid in my opinion - he will find a way to leverage the fact that Kuvira is an experienced and highly effective military commander to his advantage not just in stabilizing the Earth Kingdom, but in keeping it stable through the transition from a monarchy to the more democratic form of government he envisions for the Earth Kingdom's future. I also happen to think that this is something Kuvira would willingly do as it is ultimately for the long-term good of the nation and its people, which I see as what drove her.

<p>Su is never going to forgive her and it would be safe to assume that the re-education camps were similar to Stalin's gulag's which is a big X against her, then starting a war, hate crimes may have occurred, the conquering of the EK in my opinion she did more damage then Zaheer. Zaheer killed a shitty queen and put Ba sing se (and probably only the states surrounding) tried to destroy the air nation and poisoned, traumatized Korra only affecting two nation but more likely one and a half I mean at least Zaheer never went for like local mayors or leaders such as Su while Kuvira went for not only state leaders but probably to tribal chiefs. I mean at least Zaheer didn't imprison anybody or torture more than about sixty people (Korra being poisoned kicking Tenzin, Kya and Bumi's asses and emotionally effecting their friends and the new airbenders who came off unscathed) Kuvira possibly killed thousands of people if not millions who were her own people who she worked to death. Korra will prevent Raiko from executing her but also if Kuvira dies she will never learn her lesson. if Ghazan's prison is intact I would put her there and I think everybody who was a supporter of Kuvira and did her dirty work should still be given a fair trial and allow the world leaders give fair punishments. </p>

<p>Assuming that Avatar world politics parallels this one, I would guess that the high-ranking officers would bear the brunt of victor's justice. The rank-and file soldiers will fall behind on the "I was just following orders" excuse, not to mention that a significant number of them were coerced into Earth Empire service. And despite the actions of their superiors, I'm sure many of them really did want to do what they thought was best for their nation, which had fallen on bad times. Besides, the practical reality is that if you intend to punish an entire army, the only option would be to kill them all. Inflicting your revenge on such a large group of people, but leaving them alive, is a recipe for disaster. I don't see Korra, Tenzin, Zuko, or any other world leaders making such a foolish or inhumane decision.
