<p>As far as I can tell, the bold is a non sequitur--there is no logical connection between the presence of chakra & the inability to bend sand, & it's just something that Naruto fans are claiming in order to allow Gaara to control her attacks, but not the other way around. </p><p>ScrewAttack's logic is unreliable & inconsistent, but the same goes for the majority of fanboys. </p><p>By the end of the series, Toph knows sandbending & is able to navigate on a beach, so that point is moot. While Gaara can float on sand, it's still sand, & Toph can sense earth that is not connected to the ground. </p><p>But what really persuaded me was 2 things: </p><p>1. Shukaku should really be in violation of the outside help rule. </p><p>2. Toph eventually becomes chief of police, equalizing the advantage that Gaara had in terms of experience & giving her the armor, which is a free source of steel for metalbending & of course adds to her defense. </p><p>It was also pointed out to me that her arm band is made of the same ore as Sokka's space sword, & we all know how strong that thing is. </p>

<p>I don't know why she shouldn't be able to do it too.  There's also the fact that Toph can't see well on sand(and that's not about ability but sand's nature of not absorving vibrations as well as solid earth) and he can turn rock into sand faster than Toph do the contrary. </p><p>In the end, the decisive factor will be Gaara's durability and his defenses. He also have at least basic gennin training(that means he can make basic ninjutsu and genjutsu) and is shown to be very good with weapons too. </p><p>She also discovered people's talent to metalbend with it in the comics. If she can send it flying at high speed towards him maybe she can break his automatic defense. </p>

In these three pages, we get to a know the name of a previously seen minor character, and are introduced to previously unseen, but mentioned characters, who also get named for the first time. </p>

If so, short of equalizing speed (which I don't agree with in straight comparisons), that's a massive advantage for Gaara, both offensively and defensively. </p>

<p>They are faster. Gaara's automatic defense was only pierced in his fight with Rock Lee whe the later took off his weight and opened the gates, he was running so fast and attacking with so much force that he destroyed the ground. Gaara took a lot of hits from this upped Lee but even so managed to win the fight almost killing him, so he have high durability. </p><p>I was thinking about her sending the meteor at him at a very high speed, like a projectile. Kimimaro did that throwing his finger bones at Gaara and they almost passed his defense. </p><p>But if she pass this defense he still have a sand armor and a ultimate defense. </p>

</p><p>But here is the thing. . . and I'm sure it's hard for you to process but hear me out. We don't care about Guyver movie being bad. Because we don't have any emotional connection to it like we do with ATLA and to a lesser extent DBZ and the upcoming Ghost In The Shell remake. </p><p>When you see a bad movie based on something you aren't a fan of, it's just a bad movie. At worst you leave the theatre disappointed you wasted your time and money. When you see a bad movie based on something that you love, it's not only disappointing. . .it's anger inducing and heartbreaking. </p><p>It's like the difference between the funeral of a man you barely know, and the funeral of a beloved relative. Screw Attack stuff: </p><p>Outside of the weird pseudo teleportation thing, Gaara didn't seem that fast. His sand was able to react, though that doesn't strictly mean it moves as fast as Lee, because it has to cover less distance & in a more straightforward path. I do agree that sand will never be as good at translating vibrations as more compacted earth, but it doesn't seem like a big enough difference to matter. Screw Attack will undoubtedly say that Gaara won't really use anything other than his sand, which is sort of fair in this case, as Naruto characters inexplicably almost never use anything other than their "gimmick." I actually think that Toph is faster at transforming earth, & neither Lee nor Kimimaro had the advantage of also being able to control sand. </p>

<p>Go here to read it. There are only 3 pages and the rest are from other stuff. </p><p>Toph needed a lot of motion to turn a little sand into solid earth while Gaara cando it without even moving. Gaara is at least as fast as any gennin, and that means faster than Toph. I don't think this makes much difference since in the fights i watched he barely moves and Toph's seismic sense can make things more even. </p>
