<p>So, It seems the New Ozai Society casts its influence one way or another in the comics. They were featured in Rebound, and their influence was felt in "The Rift", because they recruited Satoru's parents and caused him to join his uncle. All their mentions were just subtle hints and foretellings about the threat they would eventually pose. I knew it was only a matter of time until they became the new Big Bads. If Ursa somehow meets Ozai again, it's NOT gonna be pleasent, AT ALL. Maybe we might see Satoru's parents. I think Satoru might join Team Avatar in dealing with the New Ozai Society, because clearly, them joining to restore Ozai is a personal issue for him.

But the key difference is one that has been mentioned by CAJH and probably others: Unlike the First Order, nor indeed any of the post-Imperial factions from the old SW Legacy canon(except one that I seem to vaguely recall being led by a clone of Palpatine), the New Ozai Society not only, as you mention, carries the imperialist legacy of the former Fire Nation, it specifically seeks to restore Ozai, the previous ruler, to the throne - which, cloning shenanigans aside, would've been impossible to any post-Rebellion Imperial faction.

</p><p>My point is, from what has been said so far, that's not the New Ozai Society's goal. In both <i>Rebound </i>and <i>Smoke & Shadow Part 1, </i>it's explicitly stated that the New Ozai Society's goal is specifically to free Ozai and restore him to the throne.
</p><p>Could that change in <i>SxS</i>? Possible - maybe even probable. I'm open to the possibility. But from what we know so far, not yet the case.

<p>The recent Fire Lords have been proud of their line of powerful firebenders, especially Azulon and Ozai. Ozai sees the position of Fire Lord belonging to a powerful firebender whose words should be treated as the absolute truth. But if the New Ozai Society would manage to restore him to power, Ozai would only be a royal figurehead like the Earth Kings (since none of the known Earth Kings has been an earthbender).
</p><p>The Society seems to respect Ozai only because of his former royal and political status. Would Ozai himself really appreciate to be the Fire Lord again if he is no longer a firebender?
