ALL POSTSKatara lied but Toph could not detect it? How curious.
<p>As we know that Toph could detect one lying, she couldnot detect Katara lying about Appa being sick. That is totally strange! And there was ground below them when she lied so Toph should have known that she was lying.
</p><p>Another thing. What did Aang eat for food? We know that he is a vegetarian. Where did he get his food? Or maybe I think he had, for survival, started eating non veg?

<p>Your probaly right about sun warriors considering their Aztec based. Anyway King bumi supplied them for the first half of book one. After that I'm not too sure. </p><p>I don't think aang would eat wild eggs because he would have to disturb the mother plus the eggs would be fertile so it would be considered killing at that point. I think he only ate farmed / market eggs where it's clear that the eggs are unfertilized and the mother wasn't attached to them because their never going to be alive. </p>

<p>I watched the episode again and again and the way conversation went it made me think that it really isn't right to say that "Toph didn't care" or "Toph didn't suspect because katara <i>thought</i> so".
</p><p>I think Katara was good at lying in this episode. Hadn't Azula lied to Toph during "The day of black sun" episode by saying "<i>I am a 600ft platypus bear with.....</i>blah blah". And Toph said, "Alright, I admit it you are good at it."?
</p><p>Maybe, Katara was so moved to help the poor people that she lied and thought that she lied for purpose of good and thus there wasn't any <i>nervous physical reaction body </i>or <i>trigger of a chemical reaction in the brain</i>.

It seems simpler to me to just suggest that Toph didn't bother to check.

<p>So all of you guys think that Katara cannot be a good liar? She has shown inevitable talent in every aspect. Her waterbending breaks the limit when she is preoccupied with anger or saving someone so dear to her. I feel Katara lied without revealing she was lying.
