<p><span style="color:rgb(44,44,44);font-family:Helvetica;font-size:13pt;">Hey Guys, I have been thinking, wouldn't it make sense if all Airbending Avatars (that is they were born into the air nation) would be able to fly (not the air sphere flying Aang and other Avatars do in the Avatar State) like Zaheer did once they master the avatar state? Because if you think about it Zaheer let go of his earthly attachment to be able to fly. And as shown in A:TLA book 2 chapter 19, Guru Pathik said to unlock the last chakra Aang had to "...meditate on what attached him to the world and then to let all those attachments go, flow down the river, forgotten." So wouldn’t that be the equivalent of what Zaheer did? I mean although in the 2nd to last episode of the series Avatar Yangchen told Aang that he cannot detach himself to the world because the Avatar's sole duty is to the world, I think that if they have to let everything go to go into the Avatar state then they should be able to fly like Zaheer did. What do you guys think?</span>

<p>I believe that there is usaully some kind of earthly attachment to enter into the Avatar State, such as grave danger to others, that it would prevent them from flight in the avatar state.
</p><p>But you would be correct if some avatar in the past did manage to be free of attachments and thy, then Aang would technically be able to use the past knowledge while in the Avatar state and fly himself. Or so I believe.

<p>This thought ran across my mind too, but I just passed it off as no avatar having been able to completely let go of all earthly attatchments. Something else to consider, of a similar nature, is that if an avatar unlocked all their chakras and essentially ended up at this point,

</p><p>wouldn't they have ended up in their big giant spirit form as Korra did? or was that Tree of Time/Harmonic Convergence exclusive? How did Korra even get to that point without unlocking her chakras...fml...I'm done... </p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(44,44,44);font-family:Helvetica;font-size:13pt;">Yeah I think that it would have made sense if the Avatars would be able to fly, I mean especially since Avatar Won was able to do that cloud airbending thing to fly, I think they should be able to have that, but I guess the airsphere overtakes that. But to the giant spirit thing: I think that that was an harmonic convergence exclusive thing, since after all the spiritual energy was higher and even Jinora said that her spiritual projection thing is weaker than it was during harmonic convergence and so that could explain that. And about Korra unlocking all her chakras: I think it is supposed to be implied that Korra has mastered the avatar state since there have been times that she went into the avatar state when she wasn't necessary having her life at stake but just needed some extra power.</span>

My theory is Avatars need to master the other three elements which makes them more down to earth. They need to master Water and Earth which make them bond to the ground. If that makes any sense. So because someone is an Avatar is the reason why they cant fly.
