<p>I'm sure this has been on other people's minds before, but I can't help but be curious: is Woodbending possible? Avatar draws the majority of its inspiration from asian culture, and the traditional chinese elements list Wood, Fire, Water, Lightning, and Metal. Far be it from me to see how this makes any sense, but we've already seen Fire, Water, Lightning, and Metal be bent in some way, shape, or form in the Avatar universe. Naturally, this means we're only missing one final element:

</p><p>So I'm wondering, how would Woodbending exist, if possible at all? Metalbending and Lightningbending (Lightning generation, if you want) are both advanced forms of Earthbending and Firebending, while Fire and Water are standard bending arts. I'm pretty sure the first thing anyone would jump to is assuming Woodbending would only be doable by an Avatar bending Earth and Water at the same time, and if you say this, you've been looking at too much Naruto; no Senju clan here.Â
</p><p>With my own preference, I'd like to chalk Woodbending up as its own independant bending art; I wouldn't mind seeing a secluded band of Woodbenders in Book 4. But what about everyone else? How do you think Woodbending could be achieved?Â

<p>Earth has TO many minor elements. Air probably has none,because it's to powerful. Try focusing on more waterbending minor elements.

<p>u knw the elements tat r already there r there 4 a reason. If they was woodbending then they would be bending 4 everthing glass, paper, plastic, smoke, even computer bending but that would be useless so woodbending would not be useful. Plus the elements tat r already there werent just put there, they were picked from the greek elements and the movements they do in the avatar r part of chinnese culture. If u wanna see what i am talking bout go to youtube and search the avata in the making.

<p>To the above statement, considering we've seen the specialized bending forms of metal, plant, lava and bloodbending, woodbending isn't really a stretch. I've said this before, but I'd imagine woodbending as working the same way plantbending does.

<p>It's a portmanteau of "superman" and "übermensch" (though the two words basically mean the same thing). I like combining words from different languages. ;) </p>
