I love Avatar because it tends to humanize the villains and stick to the mantra of "'bad guys' are people too." Random Fire Nation soldiers/Equalists/unnamed Red Lotus members having normal interactions, Azula completely breaking down, the Earth Kingdom Soldiers that captured Korra, even showing Ozai's baby picture. Zaheer and crew showed that they cared for eachother, that their time in prison was hell (talking about how they spent their days), and made us connect to them. Made us think "if only they didn't follow such extreme ideology, they could do such good for the world/actually be friends with our protagonists." And that's what makes Avatar so great!</i></div>
<p>Well, Vaatu isn't like the other villains at all. He's made of pure evil and darkness and is a very otherworldly being. He cares for nothing and loathes all humans. He appears to be omnipotent. That's why he's my favorite villain in the entire series so far. He's not just another human being such as Ozai, he is an apocalyptic embodiment of chaos and discord. Just my opinion, I like the other villains too, and I still do agree with you. I just like it better when the villain of a game/show/whatever is not just a normal human being and is someone/something more powerful, or perhaps supernatural.
