She does, however, still have those issues I mentioned, along with a bit of an ego (likely from being told from the time she could walk that she would be the most important person in the world). Ideally, she should probably be paired with someone with the guile to redirect her strong drives rather than halt them outright like others have tried to. </p>

Odd that her real lowest point happened a season after that particular quote.

<p>@Tanc Agreed, that's why I really like the scene after she faces Amon in "Voice in the Night" because she comes to the realization that she's not unbeatable. Also, the scene at the end of Book 1 when she airbends upon recognizing her need to be selfless was pretty epic, and it seems like Korra always pulls through in the end when it really matters, despite her flaws along the way. </p>

<p>I suppose it could be interpreted that way, yes. Korra also seems to be more open to counsel near the end of the season, which was something she seemed to lack before. Hopefully that isn't written out, as that may pave the way for some less bicker-prone romance down the line. </p>

<p>I remember that her lowest point seemed to last two minutes in the last episode of book 1. The writers had a good point to really hit Korra home with the idea that maybe bending doesn't mean anything. Instead, we got something else. </p><p>Maybe losing the past lives would have been, but she just never really did anything with them. Yeah, she needed them to get her out of ever hole she was in. Beyond that there wasn't any real interaction. Losing the past lives meant [much] more to the audience than it ever did with the main character. </p><p>Maybe at the beginning of book 3 the writers will go into something along those lines? </p>

<p>I was thinking the impact came from her loosing her status as the Avatar, not just her past lives. Being the Avatar defined Korra most of her life, and to suddenly loose that status would probably be a much bigger blow than loosing three bending powers. Plus, she was the reason that Vaatu was able to escape and rob her of her powers in the first place, so she probably felt no small amount of guilt for being the one who halted the Avatar cycle. </p>

<p>It seemed like less of an impact than her losing bending did. Our first scene with Korra is about her being the Avatar, but it just never seemed to be as pesonal as bending was to the character. </p><p>Maybe because of the time between the the incidents? The loss of bending was several scenes (and the time it takes to get to the south pole) compared to two scenes about the loss of the spirit Raava. Then again, Korra is able to effectively be the Avatar even without the spirit nor the past lives. To me, it further diminishes their value. </p>
