<p>I think it dosen't make sense. Long Feng was their leader for a long time and under him Ba Sing Se was would be in their control with no need for the Earth king that was nothing but a figurehead. The fire nation were their SWORN ENEMIES! The fire nation would have still been in control anyway wit the Dai Li as just puppets on a string. And you know Azula would have disposed of them when she thought they were useless. Now, I'm not saying what Long Feng did was good but I'm just saying it makes no sense for the Dai Li to switch loyalty to a 14 year old girl.

<p>It would be dangerous for them to betray Azula that is for sure, but I still think the Dai Li would have the upper hand, because they are after all elite soldiers used as a secret police and they are quite many. One of the Dai Li talked about Azula with Long Feng and you saw what happend when she talked with them

</p><p>However, it does make a lot of sense to think they would get something out of it, Aula is one of the most powerful firebenders in the show, possessing her insanity, lightning, and exceedingly strong flame power. </p>

<p>There are many secrets yet to be defined, I am still waiting for a definitive answer in the comics about what happened in the library with the Dai Li.

<p>The Dai Li were fleeing a sinking ship.
</p><p>Despite all their "the war doesn't exist in the Walls" BS, everyone, including the Dai Li, were acutely aware of the war's existence. First, there was the Fall of Omashu. Next a month or two later, there was the Drill that nearly broke through to the city's capitol. Their army was completely helpless against it. And in their eyes, it was a complete fluke that a group of kids led by a preteen Avatar were able to stop it. And now maybe 2 or 3 weeks later, the Fire Nation Princess has managed to infiltrate the Earth's King's court and are able to actually meet with the Earth King himself. All the while, for the last century, the Fire Nation has been slowly and steadily gaining ground in the Earth Kingdom despite the fact that they are fighting against the entire world.
</p><p>To the Dai Li, it's not a matter of if the Earth Kingdom will fall, it's a question of when and how. It's not that they feared a single 14 year-old girl with above average firebending skills more than a spymaster with decades of experience who has been leading them for years. They fear what Azula represents. She represents the eventual and inevitable fall of the Earth Kingdom and the purging of all its previous leaders: military, political, or otherwise. By getting on this narcissistic teenager's good side and stroking her ego, they'll be able to shield themselves during the eventual fallout. They'll still have power and influence in the new "Fire Nation Colonies."

Your argument is good but you don't know what happened or what happened to the Dai Li after the one hundred year war ended.

<p>the problme thet a guy thet played the game for so long ( long feng) admited deffeat so easlly insted of trying to persuade his fellow dai lee imean thers multitoed of things he could do or say for example he could say "she is from the fire nation they think thet firebenders are superior and thet fire is the superier element lets prove theme wrong " some thing along those lines another problme his thet azulas line his complete bs" imean the one thet she was born to rule and thet is real power ". power resides where man belive it resides. this ending was just done to put the fire nation in abetter postion story wise and the gang in worse one plain and simple </p>
