This is just getting absurd. We saw him go through the Portal. He said himself that it was the only way to keep his Bending.

<p>we've never seen a bender get taken physically into the spirit world - zei and sokka were both non-benders, so we don't know if a bender would keep his bending. but yes, this conversation has become somewhat absurd, as has many threads on this board. </p>

<p>The whole reason he can keep his Bending in the Spirit World is because he physically passes through, as opposed to Korra, who reaches it by meditating & becoming a Spirit. </p><p>What I need to do, yet don't have time to do, is re-watch the Hei Bai episode, & see if I can explain the villagers' disappearances. </p>

<p>I read an X-men comic where a mentally unstable mutant named Legion, accidentally created different personas with super-powers, and one of them was an ugly, creepy, evil guy named Styx, and when he touched people, he claimed their souls, but their bodies were his to send out on missions and stuff. Luckily, the people were saved, but one b-word lady helping Legion doesn't have any sympathy, said they were lucky and she would've let them explode, and didn't take them out of Styx's lair, but Legion, Xavier, and Gambit probably went back to rescue them after killing Legion's other evil personas---anyways, back to Avatar, I think Styx's methods are the same as Koh's...Idk though, I don't remember the whole thing about Ummi and I was barely listening to Kuruk when he was talking to Aang, and I'm NOT planning on watching that part of that episode again. I'm scared of Koh. XD </p>

<p>Basically I'm saying people's souls and personalities are in their faces....I know that sounds incredibly stupid, but hey, just read the comic involving The Mother of Faces. </p>
