<p>He practically leaves and cheats on Asami and just kicks her to the curb for for Korra. I mean, obviously Asami's still going to have feelings for him, so when he breaks up with Korra...he's still continuing to flirt with her and kiss her.
</p><p>Don't get me wrong, Asami is still a little wrong in the situation. I understand he was her boyfriend first and didn't go through a proper breakup, but she's gotta get her head out of the clouds and realize what she's doing or Korra will just have to go into the avatar state and kill both of them.

Jebus, learn to joke around. This was made so long ago, I'm surprised by how much of an uproar this mess caused. When I thought he was gonna die, I almost cried in the finale. <p>Well, Lin is amazing (even if she was written sonewhat poorly in Season 2), and so is Bumi. Actually, most of the Second Generation characters are amazing. Could really do with a prequel series to the sequel series that talks about them more. The relationships just got far too strange in LoK. At least when Tenzin and Lin split, they split. I hated it when I learned that they did, but sure as anything they did, and now there's really not that much drama about it. And I like to think that they were actually able to become friends again after the Equalists (forget Kyalin, folks, there are so many best friend stories to write!).
</p><p>Second season was just...really messed up. In so many ways. If you just took the first and the third seasons, and had a little defeat about the portals opening on their own sans loss of Avatars, that would be a wonderful thing. It leaves out most of the bits where the characters were just not in character at all.

I'll have to admit, I first thought that Bolin was two-timing Ginger when he briefly got back with Ginger during Harmonic Convergence. I guess that she only pretended to be his girlfriend for the show. Their relationship was weird anyway. Also, Bolin didn't decide to go after Opal until Mako talked to him about it. </p><p>I was never a Mako hater but he did piss me off in Book 2. I wish that Korra would have been the one to dump him instead because of the way he betrayed her and her family. But by the end of Book 4 he finally learned to put Korra before himself and his job. </p>

</p><p>The person in the relationship has the obligation to curb any cheating. The onus was on Mako. Had he backed off from/after Korra's kiss, and laid down the "I'm with Asami" law, fine. But as it was, they were more concerned for Bolin's feelings having seen them than for Asami's.
</p><p>What made Mako cheating during Masami 2.0 was his not-immediately telling/reminding Korra they were broken up. By his own admission he wished it had not happened, so he let their relationship "resume" despite being with Asami. That <i>made</i> it cheating on his part.
</p><p>Granted, all of the Krew were stunted in some form or another. Korra, sequestered away; Asami, "daddy's little girl" who while society-socially adept was probably too interested in the company and learning the necessary skills to have a true social life; Mako, keeping Bolin and himself alive on the streets; Bolin, protected by Mako. But that does not excuse the fact Makorra was toxic. To Korra more than Mako, but that's the usual MF dynamic.
